  2. Mrs. Dubose is suffering a long and painful death as a mad dog would experience. But even though Mrs. Dubose is in allot of pain she continues with her daily routines doing and saying anything to take her mind of her pain. A mad dog on the other hand slowly loses his mind and has no power over his brain and body.

  3. i agree with Keegan because Mrs. Dubose did go through a lot of pain just like a a dog with rabies. But also rabies are very contagious unlike Mrs. Dubose's issues. The dog didn't choose to get affected by rabies, but Mrs. Dubose had many chances to stop being an addict. She wouldn't have caused all this pain to herself if she wasn't an addict.

  4. I agree with Sarah when she says how the dog didn't chose to have rabies, but Mrs. Dubose could have chosen not to be an addict. We just learned in health class how habits can make you or break you. They can be very good, yet very bad. But you have control over the bad ones until they get out of hand like Mrs. Dubose's case.

  5. I disagree with Keegan, she alredy lost her mind.

  6. Mrs. Dubose and a mad dog both harm others. Mrs. Dubose verbally assaults people, when a mad dog can bite others and give them rabies. The dog has no control over it's condition, when Mrs. Dubose let her morphine addiction get that bad. She could have prevented it early on and it wouldn't have turned into such a huge problem.

  7. Mrs. Dubose is like a mad dog because whenever someone goes near her, she yells and insults them. When you walk by a mad dog, it barks nonstop at you. Both just make alot of noise when you are near them. They are bothered by every little thing.

  8. I agree with Marykate. She doesn't have control over the way she is hurting the kids. Her morphine addiction was only making her attitude worse. A mad dog is the same way. It can't help itself and it can hurt people.

  9. Mrs.Dubose is similar to a mad dog because she is in pain like a mad dog also she is going mad.

  10. I agree with Jordyn that Mr. Dubose is similar to a mad dog. She relates to a mad dog because a mad dog just does anything it wants, like Mrs. Dubose does and says anything she wants.

  11. Mrs. Dubose is similar to a mad dog because they are both in a lot of pain and they will do anything to take their minds off of the pain. Mrs. Dubose takes her mind off of the pain in a different way than the mad dog. Mrs. Dubose yells horrible things to Scout and Jem and she also has them read to her. The mad dog bites other people and barks.

  12. A mad dog is only considered mad because of the way it acts. It acts irrational and very dangerously. It only acts this way due to the pain it is in. Mrs. Dubose could b considered mad like a mad dog because she acts irrationally, and dangerously. She insults others without thinking about the consequences. She uses Atticus's case as an insult to the kid. She only acts this way because of her pain

  13. I disagree with Keegan, but only on how she said the mad dog was losing its mind when Mrs. Dubose wasn't. When she was trying to break the habit of taking the morphine. While she was doing this i think she was losing her mind with all the fits she had. I think that at some parts of the book Mrs. Dubose honestly didn't realize the harm in what she doing.

  14. Mrs. Dubose is like a mad dog. She is like one because both can not conrol the way they act. They can both hurt people. Mrs Dubose can't control the way she sacts because of her morphine addiction.

  15. I agree with kyle because they both don't have control over the way they act. Mrs. Dubose because of her morphine addiction. The mad dog because it has rabies

  16. Mrs. Dubose and the mad dog are similar because they are both in pain and they are both crazy. They're both different because, the mad dog had rabies causing his brain to swell up against his skull. Mrs. Dubose was a severe morphine addict.

  17. I agree with Makayla, Mrs. Dubose and the mad dog suffer pain in two different ways causing them to take their minds off the pain differently.

  18. Even though Mrs. Dubose and the mad dog are enduring two different kinds of pain, I think Mrs. Dubose had more of a choice on how she would handle it. The mad dog slowly went insane and there was nothing he could've done, but the fact that Mrs. Dubose went through the effort to break her self off from morphine shows that she had a choice on how she would deal with the pain. So, if she could break herself off when she was close to death, couldn't she have quit earlier?

  19. Mrs. Dubose as well as the dog are similiar in the way that they are both able to hurt people. The dog is capable of hurting people through his bite and Mrs. Dubose is able to hurt people through her words. Although Mrs. Dubose is not hurting them physically, rather mentally, they are both dangerous.

  20. Mrs. Dubose and the mad dog ARE similar. Mrs. Dubose is in a lot of pain as she withdraws from m; a mad dog has rabies which is very painful to the dog. The difference is Mrs. Dubose WANTS to withdraw from morphine and knows it will be painful, but a dog with rabies has no choice but pain.

  21. I agree with Keegan. A mad dog just dies painfully and slowly, but Mrs. Dubose was still able to go along with her daily routines. Mrs. Dubose says things to not think about pain, but a dog with rabies can't.

  22. I agree with Teagan when she says Mrs. Dubose is dangerous by the words she uses. She can not control what she says because of the illness she has like a mad dog can not control what it does because it is physically and mentally ill. Also, Mrs. Dubose isn't in as great of pain as a dog with rabies because of the morphine she takes to ease the pain, but the struggle to get off the morphine seems like it would add to her frustration and make her even more verbally dangerous.

  23. Mrs. Dubose has suffered alot in her life, and she's physically and mental ill. She can't control her, just like a mad dog can not. The morphine withdrawal made her so she was a witch, and she became verbally abusive.

  24. I agree with Marykate, you can't help an addiction. You can fight the withdrawals, but sometimes they can get to you, like they did with Mrs. Dubose. Mrs. Dubose could have stopped her addiction a while before, but the dog can't.

  25. Mrs. Dubose, just like a mad dog, can't stop an illness from injuring her or killing her because once its in your body and there is no cure for it thats the end of the line. Mrs. Dubose is able to stop the pain she is having but the illness the dog has slowly makes him crazy and eventually dying. A mad dog and Mrs. Dubose can both hurt someone too, for example Mrs. Dubose hurts both Jem and Scout with her words by calling their dad names. A dog with rabies is going crazy so if it bites anyone it gives rabies to them which will give them the same side effects and slowly kill them.

  26. Just like a mad dog Mrs. Dubose was irrational and in pain. Mrs. Dubose was irrational because of all the terrible things she said to Jem and Scout. A mad dog is irrational because it will strike at any time without thinking. Both Mrs. Dubose and a mad dog's irrationally are caused by pain. Mrs. Dubose's pain is caused by withdrawals from Morphine and mad dog's pain is caused by rabies.

  27. I agree with keegan. I think that both Mrs. Dubose and a mad dog go through long painful deaths. I also think that both Mrs. Dubose and a mad dog bring pain to other people because of their pain.

  28. I agree and disagree with Kameron. I agree they can both hurt people. First you said she can't control her actions but then you said she can control her actions which one do you mean. I also agree she can control how she acts but not because of the morphine addiction the morphine just relieves her pain. Are you trying to say she CAN'T control how she acts because of the morphine addiction but I still think she can control her self justlike any other person with an addiction.

  29. I disagree with Rikard disagreeing with me, Mrs. Dubose was not that insane. I believe she could think to some extant. For no one could possibly not be able to think and come up with all of those insults.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I agree with Mary Kate. Mrs. Dubose could have broke off her addiction earlier and it would have been easier than it was for her now that she had been addicted for a long time, when the mad dog had no choice. She also might not have been so hurtful to Jem and Scout because she wouldn't have to verbally abuse people to take her mind off the pain.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I also agree with Sam that the difference between the dog and Mrs. Dubose is that Mrs. Dubose had the choice of stopping the addiction that was killing her, while the dog had no control in the way he had to die. But I think that for Mrs. Dubose it was to hard of an addiction to break because I don't think if she lived she would have anything to live for. She was a bitter women that had nothing going on in her life.

  32. i agree with kyle's first comment because they do get ticked off by very small, meaningless things. If they were not taken over of what they are being affected by, then i bet they would know that they are being extremely harmful to others around. Jem and Scout always thought Mrs. Dubose was a very rude person, but they never saw life through her eyes and what she has been through and what drug she is addicted to that makes her so verbal.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think they are simmilar becuase both Mrs. Dubose and the mad dog were insane and in a lot of pain. But they are different because the could could not help how it died.

  34. I agree with sarah about what she said about thier similarities and differences.

  35. Mrs Dubose is suffering in pain the same as a Crazy dog or mad dog would be

  36. It is true that they both cant control what is happening but mrs dubose can try but a mad dog as soon it has rabies the dog doesnt have a chance..

  37. When comparing a dog with rabies to a human their are more diffrences then similarities. the first being the the basic thing that seperates us from every animal on the planet, the ability to choose right and wrong. Mrs. Dubose has the choice of not taking so much morphine the dog was given rabies by force and doesn't have a say in it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Going to Bradys first posted comment, you have no point. I see that you were trying to show that they both are in pain but for what purpose.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I disagree with Evan saying Mrs. Dubose made a wrong choice because Mrs. Dubose could have been introduced to the morphine by the doctor. Mrs. Dubose wouldn't disagree with the doctor because the doctor was trying to make her feel better and in less pain. Then Mrs. Dubose could have gotten addicted to it. Mrs. Dubose didn't have a say in being addicted like the dog didn't have a say in getting rabies.
